Moving closer and closer to Christmas, we just returned from our old stomping grounds. My husbands mother died which was a sad affair but we also got to visit my relatives, which was wonderful.
I grew up with large family festivities, something I really miss now. We have our kids and ourselves but I miss grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
I am always reminded of the Big Fat Greek Wedding comparison of the large Greek eating machines and the toast family. We are forced to be more, well, toast.
Not for lack of trying, perhaps my kids will have lots of children and hang around- that would be wonderful.
A couple weeks ago we went to a friends daughters wedding, she had amazing trees! We bought a few from her for our daughter's upcoming wedding, they are out in the yard and deck (see below). We have no garage for storage so I will have to be inventive until April.
One of the smaller trees makes a cute Charlie Brown Tree table centerpiece.
The Mantel
I had found a fun painted mirror this last garage sale season, I intended to do the whole snowman theme on the mantel, it just wasn't working so I settled for a couple snowmen accents and some fresh greenery for an outdoorsy feel.
The outdoor trees......

I love your snowman theme-especially the snowmen that you and your Aunt made using your ggr's buttons. How sweet. I love those trees and think they are beautiful for a wedding. xo Diana
It all looks pretty ... & as for the trees, love 'em!
I know exactly how you feel. It's usually just my husband, kids and mom for all the holidays. I feel bad for the kids not having cousins to run around with and play. But, we make it special just for us. I love the snowman window!! Adorable!

I really think your snowman mantel looks great, something more unique than the usual Christmas mantel, and you'll be able to enjoy it all winter. The snowman window is an awesome idea & I love how it seems the snowmen are peeking in the window. The reds and greens really set if off well.
Pinned your snow man and outdoor lights! Fabulous:) Following your blog. Follow me too:) I posted

Love the mantle. The little glass globes filled with snow is such a pretty thing.
Love the trees! They are so pretty all lit up at night. your snowman mantel is really cute. Also love the rustic chair that one little fella sits upon. Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
